Creative Interactive Agency Now Has a Creative Conference Table
Saturday, December 15th, 2007I get really inspired when an artist takes something ordinary and comes up with something mind-blowingly extraordinary. Why would anyone think to blog about a conference room table - you might think, how mundane? In this case, you are sorely mistaken.
Allen Kinast, uber-talented, custom furniture maker, artist and surprisingly good squash-player, created this 12 foot long by 5 foot wide masterpiece - by far, the coolest conference table in Portland and likely, one of the most environmental. The table is made from re-used doug fir strips called “lathe” from century-old Portland house walls that commonly had lathe and plaster walls. Allen painstakingly created an organic jigsaw pattern throughout the table top and used a black epoxy to set the wood. There is also inlaid concrete running through the center of the table top, a hidden shelf 4 inches under the table top, and lastly, beautiful slab legs to the table with rectangular cut-outs to create a sense of airiness to this substantial table.
