Lord’s Prayer with an Email Twist

Saturday, August 19th, 2006

I got a clever email from an associate of mine, David Baker with Agency.com. I thought it was good enough to blog about for a quick chuckle:

I had been teaching my three-year old daughter
the Lord’s Prayer for several evenings at bedtime.
She would repeat after me the lines from the prayer.
Finally, she decided to go solo.
I listened with pride as she carefully enunciated each
word, right up to the end of the prayer:

“Lead us not into temptation,” she prayed,

“but deliver us from E-mail.”

Spam + God. No thanks.

Religion is personal. My initial reaction to this email was a slight chuckle of yet another scam. The more I thought about it, the more annoyed I got.

The “Bank of Nigeria” spam scam has now evolved to a poorly written “God and pity” email with a strong subject line. Decide for yourself if this email really resonates with you. If so, don’t send me any God Spam. Spam and God do not mix.

Greetings,

I am Mrs. Jennifer Wilson I am a dying woman who have decided to donate what I have to you/ church. I am 59 years old, 2 years ago I was diagnosed for cancer, immediately after the death of my husband Mr. George Hern Wilson, who has left me everything he worked for while in America.

I have been touched by God to donate from what I have inherited from my late husband to you for the good work of God,rather than allow my relatives to use my husband’s hard earned funds ungodly. Please pray, that the good Lord forgive me my sins.I have asked God to forgive me and I beleive he has because He is a merciful God. I will be going in for an operation in less than one hour.”
