eROI Survey Study – Integration of Social, Mobile, and Email

Monday, July 26th, 2010

It is hard these days not to notice the amount of people on the streets, in their cars, riding buses and even enjoying a meal while navigating through a mobile device.  What does this mean for marketing? The amount of time consumers are spending on mobile devices is increasing day by day. What have marketers done to tap into the new, dynamic phase of mobile marketing and how does social media fit in?

eROI decided to find out by conducting a study of over 500 marketers to see what their current attitudes were towards mobile marketing and social media trends.

Get a brief on our study from ClickZ

Our study was geared towards learning:

  • The interest in mobile marketing to marketers, if any.
  • The importance of mobile marketing and social media to the marketer.
  • How the marketer is integrating the media and how much research is being done to optimize it.

The study was successful and informative if not a bit surprising. If 91% of the US population uses a mobile device, what are the marketers really doing to access those consumers? Get the full study here…

What’s your favorite eROI blog? (haiku)

Saturday, January 10th, 2009

At eROI, we’ve launched some exciting new blogs in the past couple months, and the content is unbelievably good. It’s so good, it may even rival the eROI Days blog.  If you haven’t had a chance to check them out, now is your chance.  Fresh is a blog from our creatives that is both design-oriented as well as great insights into web technologies.  eROI NYC has an urban, high-energy feel to it with loads of unique video straight from the New York underground. Then, there are the tried and true old-timer blogs with eROI Days, The Email Wars, and Return on Subscriber.

eROI Launches Tripwire Virtual Black Hole Blog

Tuesday, January 6th, 2009

Tripwire came to eROI in need of help with designing their Virtualization blog.  The Virtual Black Hole blog combines the different voices and personalities of 4 unique individuals, each of whom provide their own content and ideas based on their respective blog category.   As each individual varies on his or her beliefs and insight, Tripwire wanted to reflect this within the design of the site.

Initially, Tripwire had the idea of having different icons, colors and backgrounds for each one of the four authors.  They also wanted these differences to reflect the topics of each author’s blog; these including: Steve-Best Practices, Karen-Marketing, Matt-Industry, and, last but not least, Ted-Project Management.  The Tripwire team also wanted to distinguish the Virtual Black Hole blog from all others, steering away from the general post after post format of the traditional blog layout.  Lastly, they wanted to include Tripwire branding within the overall site but not be designed within the usual brand standards.

eROI New Launch – Travel Oregon Blog

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

Our team at eROI had a ton of fun updating and redesigning the Travel Oregon Blog.  This project took about 2 months to design, produce and make all other necessary updates.  After learning about the wants and needs during the initial meeting with the client, the designer, Elliot, and the rest of the team, knew exactly what they wanted to do to this blog.  Deciding to go with an overall rustic look and Oregon feel, Elliot incorporated a few things from the previously existing blog to keep the Travel Oregon personality while almost entirely re-inventing the site to really give the blog its own unique look (such things including a date stamp for entries and the borders around the search bar).

EmailDays Blog will have a New Look this Week

Monday, July 14th, 2008

You will be inspired. The new look to this fascinatingly fascinating blog will be far far better than the little screenshot below. Prepare to be utterly floored by this weekend. No pressure to the awesome developer (rockstar Mrs. Gunter) and designer (nicely done Mr. Calvert).

I almost forgot — this blog will transition over the next month or so to having everyone subscribe to eroidays.com, no longer emaildays.com (same content, just a more accurate name):

Why Blog?

Tuesday, October 25th, 2005

The folks at the American Marketing Association – Oregon asked me to speak on “The Truth about Blogs” and I was amazed by how much self-discovery and learning there was in the process of creating this presentation on “Why Blog” (PDF). The presentation highlights case studies like the Email Days Blog, and the substantially more impressive case study of 80 year-old Jack Klugman blogging on his Tony and Me Blog.

My colleague and co-presenter, Janet Johnson, VP Communications at Marqui, offers a fascinating perspective on the controversy surrounding Paying Bloggers. It’s given Marqui massive exposure, but not all good. Janet is an excellent presenter who learned some valuable lessons during the eye of the storm of getting tremendous heat from bloggers and journalists covering the Blogosphere.
