eROI 2007 Online Marketing Prediction #8 of 10

8. User-generated content will be a component on most new websites. Many companies are just starting to realize the great potential of websites with user-generated content that enable customers co-create with their brands. Ultimately, allowing users to post their stories through text, images, and video, helps to build community and long-term brand loyalty. In short, it works, and companies large (Diesel-U-Music) and small (Dunderdon Workspace) will employ this strategy much more frequently next year.

No Limits on Humor to Update Your Profile

Monday, June 26th, 2006

I frequently applaud the efforts of Diesel at truly pushing the envelope of cool and shock. They once again had my attention this past week with the profile update creative. The importance of “knowing” your audience is a top line deliverable, but this one had to surely drive the click through.

The only thing that left me a bit lost, was that the click threw me to the home page and not to my exact profile update. Made the conversion a little harder, but trust me, I wanted them to know that this spring’s surgery was a success and I would look great in relevant offers for strapless tank dresses.

Diesel Urban Commando

Wednesday, March 1st, 2006

I like to tip my hat every once in a while to Diesel as they change everything up on the site and in emails soooo often. This take a lot of work and I really can’t understand how they do it. I mean they must have an army of small Italian hands craking away on code at all hours of the day and night.

One thing that I need to call out though is the fact they they are never Can Spam compliant. They have the unsubscribe link in the footer and a valid email address, but they never show a valid postal address. I mean 2 out of 3 is good, but not great. Donatello, tell me where to send my letter PAR Avion to tell you to take me off the list. Other than that I can’t wait to see the influx of Camo in HIGH fashion once again this year.

Wow, Now that’s an Email

Tuesday, January 3rd, 2006

Diesel does a great job on the web. If you have not taken a moment to visit their website, you need to. It is updated so often in a complete overhaul that it will blow your mind. Now not only do they update the main site, but they create ornate micorsites for all of the product lines. My hat is off to them for the amount of time that they put into everything they do.

Now on topic, this lastest email was so large, that it would not even fit in a preview pane, let alone a browser window. You actually had to take the opposite action of scrolling sideways to see the whole image. I tried over and over to get a small enough resolution to share it, but it was imposssible.

If you are in retail, or just like good emails, sign up.
